AnimePhantom ORPG

Well In order to cater to more types of players ive decided i should script an overworld Online RPG as well.

The current PvP AnimePhantom game will be called "BattleFields" and the RPG most likely "RPG". Each will have a seperate ladder based on different criteria.

Im not sure what language to do it in (Flash, Java + OpenGL, VB + DX7/OpenGL) so im researching heavily into it. Most likely i will start off with a desktop based engine, then port it to browser (Java + OpenGL) when i finish school.

Im hoping you guys can keep AP alive why im working on it!

I'm gonna work on both, i will actually work better that way, because my interest in things fluctuates so much, atleast this will keep me focused on game programming. As i work on my RPG i will come up with coding ideas for the PvP game aswell especially things to do with networking and graphics performance.

Anyway once the pvp game gets more characters i will code more stuff for it, as its really easy from now on. Gui needs to be improved, as well as skill effects and code. But most of the underlying framework is there and i have made it really easy to add new content. I just thought it would be cool if others could put their own content in, while i work on the framework.

Anyway you can't say it wouldn't be cool to have a browser based orpg aswell.

Well if you need some suggestions for an engine (desktop) I know of one I liked very much when I used it just ask.

Thanks for the offer [zorro_msn_zorrillito-30] , but i am definitely doing it from scratch its a lot faster that way.

I have already done some OpenGL in vb. I know how to set up the goresock manually so thats not a problem. Java is similar to C and Flash, so I'm pretty set.

EDIT:

There's a chance i will do it in flash anyway. Perhaps even merge the 2 together.

EDIT (few hours later):

Got basic tiling working in Flash, it's similar to blitting but faster. I might actually try merging an RPG aspect into the current game. [msn_red_fox_smilies-18]

Heres an Idea the current game just turn it into a part of the rpg and call it the battle hall or something [msn_red_fox_smilies-17]

I tried Java and JOGL. It was a fucking nightmare.
