Map Editor Update

Postby bakekitsune on Sat Oct 18, 2008 5:04 pm

The new map editor for the RPG has been uploaded, I have completely recoded the entire thing and is about 75% complete.

The main difference is the scrolling maps which Existance0 suggested was a must have. It also features an optimised game-loop, double-buffering and active-rendering. On fast CPU's this should produce and extremely smooth result. I have not tested on slower-CPUs so if it goes spastic then post up and wait for me to bring out a faster version.

Fits for 1024x768 if you press F11 for Fullscreen.

200KB you may see a white screen for a few seconds, that means its loading. [zorro_msn_zorrillito-30]

Intel Dual Core something something I can't remember right now. I'll try again, see if it still crashes.

EDIT:

Yeah, it did it again. Interestingly, the applet still updates the debug info in the left of the applet, but I can't do anything with the browser window. After a while it stops updating, so...

Good thing I'm using Ubuntu. Good ol' Linux. [msn_red_fox_smilies-12]

Don't worry im changing the gameloop because i noticed a major flaw.

It runs extremely smooth if the CPU can handle the game at 60fps, and is designed to slow down the updating if so that no matter how fast the CPU is it will update at the same speed even if the rendering is much faster, if the CPU can't keep up though flash freezes (I tested by going at 100fps). What it was supposed to do was loop until the CPU can keep up with the fps but by the time the CPU catches up it just jumps and then falls back behind.

Im doing research on GameLoops and im gonna code a new one soon that will be much better and can run much better on slower CPU's.

LOL nice though it didn't need to be that much, just the Clockrate(GHz), Cache, and RAM will suffice aswell as the FPS you got for the editor.

What was your FPS?
